Number Bonds

So, it's that time when kids need to learn about combining numbers to make a whole. Numbers Bonds. Part, Part, Whole. Then all these will lead then into learning composing and decomposing numbers, but I'm getting ahead of myself...

Yup, time to break down a number and figure what other 2 numbers will add up to that number. This is Number Bonds.

Then there's also that option to use snap cubes. This is how to show part, part, and whole. Different colors, will always make exercises like these easier.

The next method is using ten frames and counters. Counters with different colors would make this easier off course. This helps to show how two numbers can make the whole number.

Lastly, you can also use other methods, like a dice, but this is quite limited, since normal dice only reaches up to 6, unless you use those special dices with numbers can can go up to 10 or 20 or even 100. 😜, but, in this exercise, 6 is mostly definitely enough.

Eventually, children will then learn how to add numbers and understand its concept. That's where composing and decomposing comes in. But again, that's me getting way ahead of myself.

Also, this pdf comes with two blank activity sheets that kids can use to practice these exercises.
